The total direct and indirect exports of Iranian polymer products hit $3.32 billion over the past Iranian fiscal year to March 20 which shows a 23% increase in comparison to figures from the preceding year, according to a board member of Iran’s National Association for Polymer Industries.

Barmak Qanbarpour made the remarks speaking during a press conference on the sidelines of an international conference on exports of polymer products.

He said that the exports of polymer products is acceptable when compared with the country’s exports of raw material. “The more we reduce the exports of raw materials and increase the exports of polymer products, it will be to the benefit of the country.”

With $1.25 billion of finished polymer industries and $2.07 billion of indirect exports, the polymer industry has been one of the leading industries in the exports of non-oil industries last year, Qanbarpour said.

Noting that Iran’s total non-oil exports stood at $48 billion last year, he said that the polymer industry has had a 7% share of the country’s non-oil exports.
