Iran private sector urges implementing free trade regulations among Caspian Sea states

Vice-President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi said that implementing free trade regulations can give a boost to cooperation among Caspian Sea littoral states.

Vice-President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi said that implementing free trade regulations can give a boost to cooperation among Caspian Sea littoral states.

Selahvarzi made the remarks during a "Business Caspian" meeting of the International Council for Business Cooperation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Caspian states which was held on the sidelines of the 2nd Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow.  

Referring to the wide capacities for cooperation among Caspian Sea littoral countries, the ICCIMA vice-president  regretted that these capacities are not used in a proper way.

He said that these countries are 22 million square meters wide, with 256 million people population and a trade volume of $800 billion, while these capacities are not properly used.

Selahvarzi believed that Iran’s accession to Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as well as implementation of the Caspian Sea littoral states can help promote cooperation among these countries.

He also proposed the formation of specialized committees in the chambers of commerce of the five countries so as to identify and address the problems on the way of bilateral cooperation among member states.

Selahvarzi welcomed a next month visit to Iran by a trade delegation from the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and proposed that the Russian guarantor and issuer of TIR carnets also visit to Iran as a member of the delegation.
