Negotiation are due to be held between Iranian and Saudi officials to increase bilateral flights, according to the director of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran (CAO).

Mohammad Mohammadibakhsh told IRNA economic correspondent that he and his Saudi counterpart will make the necessary decisions on the issue in talks which will take place after the annual Hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia.

Noting that airports in 21 Iranian cities are operating flight to Saudi Arabia for Hajj rituals, the official said that Iran seeks to negotiate with Riyadh for expansion of non-Hajj flights.

Mohammadibakhsh said that he has invited his Saudi counterpart to Iran to discuss launching new flights between the two neighboring countries with the partnership of Iranian airlines.  

Pilgrims from Iran and Saudi Arabia request Mashhad-Jeddah and Mashhad-Medina flights to be launched, the official said, adding that the CAO and the Foreign Ministry will make the necessary planning for further negotiations with Saudi officials after the end of the annual Hajj rituals in August.
