Iran crude exports hit $19 billion in Jan-May

The latest figures by the Energy Information Administration of the United States (EIA) indicate that Iran has exported some $19 billion of crude oil in the first five months of 2023.

The latest figures by the Energy Information Administration of the United States (EIA) indicate that Iran has exported some $19 billion of crude oil in the first five months of 2023.

The EIA said in its last update that the oil exports of 13 OPEC members in the five months to June 2023 totaled $293 billion.

The EIA report stated that Iran has exported as much as $19 billion worth of crude oil in the mentioned period which accounts for 6.5% of OPEC's total oil exports in the five-month time span.

Iran ranked fifth among OPEC members in terms of oil exports in the period under review following Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE and Kuwait.  

According to this report, Iran exported $54 billion worth of crude oil in 2022, which showed a $17 billion increase compared to the previous year when the figure stood at $37 billion.
