Niloofar Assadi, the caretaker of the international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (R) is seen in a meeting with Shimokyoda Takashi, the head of the economic section of the Japanese embassy to Iran, and Takayuki Suzuki, the principal representative of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Tehran on July 26, 2023.

Niloofar Assadi, the caretaker of the international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), has urged the need for Japan to ease visa requirements for Iranian businesspeople.

Assadi made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Shimokyoda Takashi, the head of the economic section of the Japanese embassy to Iran, and Takayuki Suzuki, the principal representative of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Speaking during the meeting, she referred to great potentials for cooperation, noting that Iran and Japan can cooperate in different agricultural, food, medicine, mining, handicrafts, and tourism areas.

She added that trilateral relations between Iran Chamber of Commerce, the Japanese embassy in Tehran, and JETRO can help expand cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo.

As the new generations of both countries are not familiar enough with the potentials for cooperation, Iran Chamber of Commerce stands ready to host business events in collaboration with the Japanese embassy and JETRO, Assadi said.

She underlined the need for facilitating visa requirements for Iranian businesspeople so that they can more easily attend business events in Japan.

In the meantime, the Japanese diplomat regretted that the number of foreign companies present in Iran has largely declined due to the Western sanctions on Tehran.

Takashi however added that Iran and Japan have to give a boost to their ties even in spite of the present sanctions.

The diplomat also highlighted the role of trade events, noting that events like Osaka Expo can provide a good chance for familiarizing with the potentials of the two countries.

He also voiced his country’s readiness to ease visa requirements for Iranian businesspeople.
