19th Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee meeting in Tehran

Iranian Agriculture Minister Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht has said that Iran can import barley, corn, and soybean from Kazakhstan.

Addressing the 19th Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee meeting which was held in Tehran on Sunday, Nikbakht expressed satisfaction with the progress of the negotiations of the Joint Commission of Cooperation between the two countries.

The Iranian Minister added that the negotiations indicated the will of the officials from both sides to further expand bilateral relations in various fields.

Referring to Iran's progress in different areas, he said that Tehran can promote ties with Kazakhstan in agricultural areas such as fisheries, cage farming, and shrimp farming in the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.

"A part of Iran's red meat needs, which is now supplied from Brazil, can be replaced by Kazakhstan’s meat,” Iranian Agriculture Minister added.

The previous round of Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee meeting was held in the Kazakh capital city of Astana on January 24-25.

As reported, the value of Iran-Kazakhstan annual trade rose 20 percent in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).
