India reports $200 million in trade exchanges with Iran in January

India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a report which puts the country’s trade exchanges with Iran in January at over $200 million.

India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a report which puts the country’s trade exchanges with Iran in January at over $200 million.

The report suggests a 3% rise in trade exchanges between the two countries in comparison to $197 million reported in January 2023.    

It said that India exported some $148 million worth of commodities to Iran in the month under review, up 15% year-on-year.

It also put Iran’s exports to India in January at $54 million, posting a 20% decrease in comparison to figures reported in January 2023.

Rice, oilseed meal, fruits and tea comprised India’s top export items to Iran while fruits, raw material for color production, and oil products were the main items Iran exported to India in the one-month timespan.
