Iran private sector proposes modern settlement methods to Africa

President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh has voiced the readiness of the chamber to use modern settlement methods in trade with Africa.

Hassanzadeh made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Saturday with President of Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Vicent Minja and CEO and Executive Director of Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce Hamad Hamad.

He referred to the “heavy duty” of the chambers of commerce in promotion of economic relations and enhancement of trade, noting that Iran Chamber of Commerce is eager to give a boost to relations with the chambers of commerce of Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Expansion of trade relations with Tanzania and other East African countries is on the agenda of Iran’s private sector, the Iran Chamber of Commerce president said.  

He noted that economic and industrial potentials of Tanzania along with other potentials of the country make a unique trade chance for Iran.

Hassanzadeh also said that Iran is eager to make investment in Tanzania in different sectors, including, overseas farming, offering techno-engineering services, and establishing food and processing industries.

He expressed hope that Iran-Tanzania Joint Committee of Commerce will be established in the near future.

The president of Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, in the meantime, said that his country is eager to make use of Iran’s experiences in different fields.

Minja referred to a 2012 memorandum of understanding between the chambers of commerce of Iran and Tanzania which he said has not yet been put into practice, urging the two chambers of commerce to discuss the document once again and find mechanisms to implement it.

The CEO and Executive Director of Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce, who was also present in the meeting, highlighted Zanzibar’s tourism attractions, voicing eagerness for further investment in the area of tourism sector.

He noted that the chambers of commerce and governments have to facilitate trade among businesspeople of the two sides.
