Referring to a proposal for forming a joint council of commerce, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh has said that the council could give a boost to trade cooperation between Iran and Serbia.

Hassanzadeh made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran on Monday with Milan Čukić, the state secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Economy.

Terming the level of trade between Iran and Serbia as very insignificant, he said that the low level of trade is registered while the two countries have high export potentials.

The sanctions failed to prevent Iran’s industrial growth, he said, enumerating the areas in which Iran has posted a remarkable rise.

He said that the Iran Chamber of Commerce has made a proposal for forming a joint council of commerce between Iran and Serbia which is preliminary step for the formation of joint chamber of commerce.

The Serbian official, for his part, said that trade with Serbia would provide Iranian businesspeople with access to other European countries.

Čukić noted that his country is one of the first European countries in terms of attracting foreign investment.

He called for an Iran-Serbia joint chamber of commerce to be formed as soon as possible.
