Iran aims to attract health tourists from five neighboring countries

Mohammad Reza Karbasi, the deputy for international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said that five neighboring countries, namely Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Azerbaijan, and Iraq, are Iran’s target countries for promoting health tourism.

Mohammad Reza Karbasi, the deputy for international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said that five neighboring countries, namely Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Azerbaijan, and Iraq, are Iran’s target countries for promoting health tourism.

Karbasi made the remarks during a coordination meeting for holding the fifth Conference on Health Tourism in Islamic Countries.

He said that holding the four previous editions of the conference by Iran Chamber of Commerce brought good results and helped Iran attract health tourists from different countries during a five-year period.

Karbasi said that the conference has not been held since 2014 unfortunately due to political rifts between Iran and some countries, including Saudi Arabia.

Noting that the private sector has to resume its activities in the field of health tourism, he said that fortunately there are sign of a thaw in relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and Iran is improving relations with other regional countries.

Karbasi referred to Iran’s high capability for providing health and medical services and said that Iran Chamber of Commerce underlines Iran’s health tourism capacities to foreign officials and the heads of foreign chambers who visit the Iran Chamber.
