Iran’s ambassador to Moscow said his country has exported $775 million worth of goods to Russia during the first 10 months of 2021 – a new record in recent years.
Kazem Jalali made the remarks in an interview with IRNA on Monday, adding, the figure indicates a 122% year-on-year growth in exports to Russia.
Agricultural products, including aquatic products, processed fishery products, fillets, shrimp, dairy products, flowers and plants, vegetables, fruits and nuts, mainly accounted for the exported goods to the European country, Iranian envoy added.
Iran and Russia, which are both under Western sanctions, have in recent years developed close ties in political, security, defense, economic and energy fields.
They are currently implementing joint projects in oil, gas, nuclear and railway sectors.
The two countries are also working to renew the long-term comprehensive cooperation agreement signed 20 years ago.
Jalali had recently said Tehran and Moscow are on the way to take an optimal advantage of "opportunities and potentials.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially invited his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, to visit Moscow in early 2022.
