Iran, Venezuela discuss increased oil cooperation

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji and visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, in a meeting in Tehran, explored ways for further oil cooperation between Tehran and Caracas.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji and visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro meet in Tehran where they discuss more enhanced oil cooperation between the two countries.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji and visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, in a meeting in Tehran, explored ways for further oil cooperation between Tehran and Caracas.

President Maduro and the Iranian minister made decisions on different issues, including exports of oil products, petrochemical products and petrochemical catalysts.

They also exchanged views on exports of technical and engineering services, renovation and overhauling Venezuelan refineries and the development of the country’s oil and gas fields.

During his stay in Tehran, the Venezuelan president signed a 20-year comprehensive cooperation deal with Iran.  

Owji and his Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Felix Plasencia Gonzalez signed a memorandum of understanding on overhauling Venezuelan oil and gas refineries by Iran on the sidelines of a Summit of the heads of states of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in the Qatari capital of Doha on February 22.

Venezuela also began imports of Iranian heavy oil to supply feed for the Latin American country’s refineries early in May.
