In a collaborative effort to tackle the ongoing electricity imbalance in Iran, the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has joined forces with the government to find sustainable solutions, with a specific focus on enhancing renewable energy production.

During a Sunday session of the Chamber's Board of Representatives, ICCIMA President Samad Hassanzadeh revealed that a special committee has been established by the government to address the country’s electricity shortages.

The committee will be composed of key government officials, including representatives from the Ministries of Industry, Mines, and Trade, Economic Affairs, the National Development Fund, as well as the Budget and Planning Organization and the Central Bank, Hassanzadeh said, adding that a representative from the Iran Chamber of Commerce will also be included in this high-level team.

Hassanzadeh explained that the committee’s mandate is to identify the barriers preventing the development of renewable energy plants in the country and propose viable solutions. The group is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the president by Sunday, outlining steps to address the pressing issue of power imbalance while utilizing the country’s untapped renewable energy potential.

In his speech, Hassanzadeh also appreciated the administration’s diplomatic efforts, particularly in relation to resolving the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) issue, which has hindered international investment and financial transactions.

He added that the Iran Chamber of Commerce plans to issue a new statement to back government efforts for solving the FATF issue.
