Iran private sector sees a major boom in Iran-Iraq trade within 15 years

Yahya Al Eshaq, the chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, said on Saturday that the markets of Iran and Iraq will provide both countries with the biggest ground for economic activity within the next 15 years.

Yahya Al Eshaq, the chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, said on Friday that the markets of Iran and Iraq will provide both countries with the biggest ground for economic activity within the next 15 years.  

He made the remarks during a meeting of an Iranian delegation with a visiting Iraqi trade delegation in Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

Referring to a very good perspective for the economic activists of the two countries, Al Eshaq said that Iraq has always been Iran’s number two or number three trade partner over the past years.

Noting that the markets of Iran and Iraq will provide both countries with the biggest ground for economic activity within the next 15 years, he said that the businesspersons who start today will be the most successful in the future.  

At some points, the volume of transactions between the two countries reached $13 billion and the officials from the two countries are resolved to increase bilateral trade to $20 billion, he said.

He went on to say that bilateral trade between Iran and Iraq are not presently balanced and Iran exports much more commodities to Iraq than Iraq does. He noted that the two countries have agreed to balance bilateral trade.
