Iran private sector urges new ways of trade with Hungary

As Western sanctions on Tehran continue, Iran and Hungary have to find new ways of trade such as exercising barter trade and using digital currencies, Vice President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said.

Hossein Selahvarzi made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday with Hungarian Ambassador to Iran Zoltan Varga Haszonits which was held on the sidelines of signing an MoU between Kerman Chamber of Commerce in southern Iran and Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI).  

He said that in an upcoming session of Iran-Hungary Joint Commission, the Iran Chamber of Commerce will do its utmost to help boost economic ties between the two countries.

He expressed hope that Tehran and Budapest will finds solutions to problems on the way of banking exchanges to pave the way for more increased bilateral trade.  

The Hungarian ambassador, for his part, said that although industry, agriculture and renewable energies are proper areas for cooperation between the two countries, some restrictions are hindering such cooperation.

The ambassador said that the problems are not limited to banking relations and there are also FATF-related problems on the way of expansion of cooperation between Iran and Hungary.

The vice president of Iran Chamber of Commerce said that the chamber has long been helping the government to find solution to sanctions-related and FATF-related problems, noting that barter trade and digital currencies can be used amid Western sanctions on Tehran.
