A direct container line is planned to be launched between Bushehr Port in southern Iran and UAE’s Jebel Ali Port by the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (September 22), according to a local official.

Mohammad Shakibinasab, the director of a local office of the Ports and Maritime Organization in Bushehr Province, said that the necessary coordination has been made with provincial authorities and the Iranian private sector.

He also said that an agreement has been signed with an Iranian investor for implementing the project.

The official said that currently the goods are transferred from Jebel Ali Port to the Port of Shahid Rajaee in Bandar Abbas and are then transshipped to the Port of Bushehr.

The launch of a container line between the Port of Jebel Ali and the Port of Bushehr will enable direct transfer of goods from the UAE port to Bushehr and will consequently reduce the transfer time, Shakibinasab said.
