Foreign investors will receive a residence permit for a period of five years once they transfer at least $100,000 to the country, Iran’s minister of economic affairs and finance said.

Speaking in a live TV interview on Saturday, Seyed Ehsan Khandouzi pointed to the new instruction issued to encourage foreign investors and added that spurring investment and developing investment opportunities in Iran’s economy is one of the important priorities of the current administration.

While the investment rate in Iran had been zero and even negative over the past years, it increased 6.7 percent in 2022, he said, adding that the government is keen on supporting both domestic and foreign investors and is making its utmost effort to attract foreign investors.

The volume of foreign investment attracted over the past one and half years exceeded that of the same period in the previous administration, Khandouzi emphasized, FARS news agency reported.

He went on to say that every investor who transfers at least $100,000 into the country will get a stay permit for five years.
