Iran private sector calls for facilitating preferential trade with Malaysia

Niloofar Assadi, the caretaker of the international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (center) is addressing a conference of the economic actors of Iran and Malaysia in Tehran on August 22, 2023.

Niloofar Assadi, the caretaker of the international affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), has urged the need for expediting preferential trade with Malaysia.

Assadi was addressing a conference of the economic actors of Iran and Malaysia which took place on the sidelines of a visit to Tehran by Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir.

She said that the Iranian industries continue to thrive despite the Western sanctions on the country, adding that Malaysia is also a leading country in South East Asia, particularly regarding its innovative products and digital technologies.  

Assadi noted that Malaysia can provide Iran’s access to ASEAN countries while Iran on the other hand can act as Malaysia’s gateway to Central Asia and the Eurasian Economic Union.

She stated that Iran and Malaysia can also cooperate on renewable energies and agriculture, as well as food and Halal industries.
