President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi says the ICCIMA has formed a working group to explore ways to give a boost to trade between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday with Iran’s newly-appointed consul general to Saudi Arabia’s port city of Jeddah Hassan Zarnegar.

Noting that the Iran Chamber of Commerce is studying the Saudi market, Selahvarzi voiced Iran’s readiness for partnership in Saudi techno-engineering projects such as ports, railway and roads.

He also said that the Iran Chamber of Commerce is ready for launching a joint chamber of commerce with Saudi Arabia, urging the need for more cooperation of Iran’s consulate general in Jeddah and the country’s embassy in Riyadh in this regard.

Iran’s consul general to Jeddah, for his part, underlined the importance of more cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries to enhance bilateral exchanges.

Zarnegar said that the two countries have to identify the economic and trade potentials of each other and pave the way for the economic actors to make more investments.

He also referred to the existence of two important ports of Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia which he said would facilitate transportation between the two neighboring countries.
