The representative office of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce has been established in Iranian southwestern city of Ahwaz.
The inauguration event was attended by governmental and provincial officials in Khuzestan. The Chairman of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale-Ishaq urged all public and private sector officials to support the new office saying “border provinces, Khuzestan in particular, due to their especial economic and geographical positions could play an important role in entering the Iraqi market”.
He expressed hope that the joint chamber of commerce between Iran and Iraq, which has the support from both governments, would enhance economic relations between the two countries.
Keivan Kashefi, member of board of directors of Iran Chamber of Commerce, present at the ceremony said that Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce is considered as one of the most active economic chambers in Iran. “Numerous important Iranian companies are actively present at the chamber which highlights the significance of its activities,” he said. “Political relations between the two neighbors stand at a very favorable level and the two sides share common stance but the mutual economic relations fail to enjoy proper coordination.”
Head of Ahvaz Chamber of Commerce Shahla Omuri also mentioned the significance of the opening of the office in the city saying “this would definitely help boost relations between the two countries”.
