Iran and Bangladesh are keen on increasing their bilateral trade volume, focusing on joint ventures and Iranian petrochemical exports to the Asian country.
“The Iranian private sector is ready to export petrochemical products as well as launch joint investment with Bangladeshi economic operators,” said Mohammad Reza Karbasi, Deputy for international affairs at Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
He made the remark in a meeting with Sobur Hossain, Commercial Counsellor at the Bangladeshi Embassy in Iran.
“Bangladesh has vast needs, including petrochemical products. In return, Iran can meet many of its needs in the Bangladesh market,” said Hossain.
He also stressed the creation of Iran-Bangladesh Joint Chamber of Commerce in a bid to help the Iranian businessmen understand the South Asian country and fast-track business ties.
Earlier, the Bangladeshi official said the two countries are studying setting up a separate financial channel to skirt US dollar in their trade exchanges to evade sanctions and banking transfer blocakde.
