Iran’s flag carrier has been given the green light by Swedish Transport Agency to resume operating flights to two Swedish cities, namely Stockholm and Gothenburg, after a three-week haul.

The Swedish Transport Agency said in a statement on Jan. 10 that it decided to temporarily withdraw the traffic permit for Iran Air for flights between Sweden and Iran, citing "unclarity" around the accidental shooting down of a passenger airplane over Iran on Jan. 8 and "safety for civilian air traffic".

Iran Air is the only airline that flies directly between Sweden and Iran, IRNA reported on Thursday.
