Iran has exported some $196 million worth of fruits to Russia in the first nine months of 2021, posting a 50% growth compared to last year’s corresponding period, according to a report by EastFruit.
Russia was the third top destination for Iranian fruit over the first three quarters of 2021 (with $196 million worth of imports), after Iraq that was the number one importer of Iranian fruits by far (with $370 million worth of imports) and India.
Apple and kiwi fruit were the main Iranian fruits exported to Russia.
Iran’s apple exports to Russia grew 2.5 times in the nine-month period to reach 125,000 tons followed by kiwi fruit with 37,000 tons, watermelon with 27, 400 tons, peach and nectarine with 26,600 tons raisins with 12,200 tons and dates with 7,400 tons.
Experts believe that the volume of Iranian fruit exports to Russia may be more that the announced figures as some Iranian fruits are also re-exported to Russia from third countries.
Kiwi fruit made the biggest growth among other Iranian fruits as Iran’s kiwi fruit exports to Russia rose 2.7 times during the period under review, the report said.
