Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi defends his budget bill in the parliament on December 12, 2021.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi on Sunday submitted a 36 quadrillion rials ($119 billion) budget bill to the country’s parliament for the fiscal year 2022-23.

Some 15 quadrillion rials ($49 billion) of the budget bill have been allocated to public budget of the country, while the budget of governmental organizations accounts for 22 quadrillion rials ($73 billion) of the total budget bill.

The bill have set a 45,000,000 rials ($148.5) minimum monthly salary for the next year.

It also says that salaries less than 50,000,000 rials ($165) will be free of tax.

There is no sign of the subsidized foreign currency in the next year budget bill which indicates that the government plans to cease the scheme which began in the previous government.

Allocating highly subsidized foreign currency was aimed to reduce the price of essential goods but many believe that the scheme have failed to be helpful as some businesspersons used the subsidized foreign currency for imports of other commodities.

Some 730 trillion rials ($2.4 billion) have also been allocated to paying fuel subsidy to the citizens and cash subsidies to the less privileged classes of society.
