Mehdi Tabibzadeh, chairman of Kerman Chamber of Commerce, a local chamber in southeastern Iran, said on Tuesday that Oman can serve as a gateway for Kerman products to 80 world countries, including the African ones.

Tabibzadeh made the remarks addressing a forum where the ways for expansion of trade between Kerman and Oman were explored.

A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Al Buraimi region were present in the forum.

Noting that Kerman Chamber of Commerce is seeking promotion of trade with countries that enjoy proper relations with the world and have preferential tariff agreements with different countries, Tabibzadeh underlined the need to boost trade ties with Oman.

He said that Al Buraimi region has a strategic region in Oman as it is neighboring with the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Tabibzadeh stressed that the Omani region can be used for re-exporting of Kerman’s products to other countries.

In the meantime, Zahir bin Mohammed Al Kaabi, the head of the Omani delegation who chairs the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Al Buraimi region, said that the forum would help expansion of trade in different areas, including agriculture, industry, tourism and health tourism.

Al Kaabi, also a board member of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the Iranians can deploy their industries in Al Buraimi region and process and re-export their products.

Speaking during a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday with Iranian economic activists, Al Kaabi noted that Iran and Oman can cooperate on different areas such as industry, Mine, fishery, tourism, trade, and foodstuff.

He said that businesspersons from both countries can devise mechanisms in the sanctions time so that Iranian commodities can be re-exported from Oman to Persian Gulf and African countries.
