The head of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce said Iran’s exports to Iraq during the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2021 – November 21) have fetched the country around $8 billion.

Yahya Al Es’haq added that the revenues show a 14 percent growth when compared to figures from the corresponding period of the preceding year, expressing hope the earnings would hit $10 billion by late March 2022.

Al Es’haq was one of the members of an Iranian top-ranking economic delegation who visited Iraq few days ago.

During the visit to Iraq, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce Gholam Hossein Shafei, who led the Iranian private sector delegation, said that a $20 billion target in economic relations between the two countries is not idealistic and the two countries can even reach higher levels.

Shafei made the remarks during a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Razzaq al-Zuhairi in Baghdad on January 17 when the two sides signed an agreement on forming a joint arbitration center.

Four Members of Parliament, the chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, and a number of Iranian economic activists were accompanying Shafei in his Iraq visit.
