Chairman of Iran’s local Chamber of Tabriz Younes Jaeleh on Sunday underlined the need for launching a direct shipping line between Iran and Bangladesh which he said could facilitate trade relations between the two countries.
Jaeleh made the remarks in a meeting with Bangladeshi Ambassador in Iran Gousal Azam Sarker.
Noting that the current level of trade between Iran and Bangladesh is not satisfactory, he called for further joint efforts by both countries to give a boost to bilateral trade.
He also enumerated advanced industries of Tabriz in Iranian northwestern province of East Azarbaijan, including steel, handicrafts, dried fruits, footwear and leather, textile, food, and Sweets and chocolates industries.
The Tabriz Chamber chairman said that Bangladesh has to name its needs for investment so that Tabriz Chamber can announce these needs to the Iranian industrialists and producers in the city.
The Bangladeshi ambassador, for his part, said that there are high capacities for production and re-exports of commodities in his country.
Sarker said that exports to Europe is highly advantages for Bangladesh considering the zero tariff for the country’s exports to the continent.
Bangladesh has fertile lands almost everything grows in them, the ambassador said, adding that his country has both enough soil and enough water.
Noting that Tabriz carpet is well-known by Bangladeshi people, Sarker called for increased trade relations between Bangladesh and Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province.
