Head of Iran-Finland Joint Chamber of Commerce Gholam Hossein Jamili and Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, in a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, explored avenues the launch of North-South Transport Corridor can help the enhancement of relations between Iran and Finland.
Speaking during the meeting, the head of the newly formed Iran-Finland Joint Chamber of Commerce said that the chamber tries to give a boost to economic relations between Iran and Finland so as to compensate the low level of relations in the past years.
Jamili hailed Finland’s experience in developing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and using modern ways of irrigation, calling for further cooperation between Tehran and Helsinki in these areas.
He said that the North-South Transport Corridor from Iran’s southeastern Chabahar Port to Finland can boost trade both via sea and railway.
From Southeast Asia to India, Pakistan and China and the Nordic countries as well can benefit from this corridor, Jamili said.
The corridor can also accelerate the access of CIS countries to European markets, he added.
The Finnish foreign minister, for his part, expressed his country’s readiness to share experiences with Iran in different areas.
