Some 13 million tons of commodities worth $5.6 billion were traded between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over the past Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 20), according to a report by Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The figure showed a 66% growth in terms of value and a 51% increase in weight terms.
Iran exported some 2.77 million tons of products worth $1.17 million to EAEU in the one-year period, the report said, adding that Iran’s exports to the five-member bloc were up 3.5% and 12% in weight and value terms respectively compared to figures from the preceding year.
Russia, by importing some 1.141 million tons of products worth $583 million was Iran’s main export destination among the five EAEU member countries.
Armenia (with some 1.05 million tons worth $302 of imports), Kazakhstan (with some 517,628 tons worth $188 million of imports), Kyrgyzstan (with 45,873 tons worth $78 million of imports) and Belarus (with 11,934 tons worth $16 million of import) ranked as Iran’s second to fifth top export destinations among EAEU member countries during the period under review.
Iran also imported some 10.35 million tons of goods worth $4.47 billion from the Eurasian Economic Union in the one-year period, the report said.
It said that the figure shows 73% growth in terms of weight and 90% increase in terms of value.
The report put Russia as the number one exporter of goods to Iran among the EAEU member countries by exporting some 9.1 million tons worth $4.05 billion to the country in the one-year period.
Russia’s main exports to Iran were essential commodities, edible oil and animal feed.
Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan were the other main EAEU exporters to Iran respectively following Russia.
