Iranian tire manufacturers produced some 47.6 million tires weighing some 288,149 tons in the year to March 20, IRNA news agency reported.
The figure shows a 1% growth in terms of the numbers of produced tires and a 4% decline in terms of weight compared to figures from a year earlier.
Iran produced some 24.1 million automobile tires which accounted for 259,096 tons or 58.7% of the country’s total output.
Iran’s automobile tire output posted a 5% reduction in terms of weight and a 4% fall in terms of the number of produced tires year-on-year.
Iran has a 60-year history of tire production and 11 tire making factories are currently active in the country.
The industry has created some 15,000 direct jobs and more than 250,000 indirect jobs in the country.
