Sharif Nezam-Mafi, the Chairman of Iran-Switzerland Joint Chamber of Commerce, said on Monday that Switzerland has turned into Iran’s first European trade partner.
Referring to Iran’s grain imports from Switzerland, he said that the biggest world grain companies are headquartered in Geneva and the companies had a high level of trade with Iran last year.
Switzerland is a strategic ally of Iran, Nezam-Mafi said, noting that “these relations are not only confined to Iran’s imports of medicine and medical equipment from Switzerland. The Swiss companies rather play a key role both in Iran’s imports and production.”
He highlighted that everything largely depends on the revival of a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers – known as JCPOA. He said that the revival of JCPOA will release all Iran’s frozen assets which will help the Iranian government in importing all the country’s needed essential commodities.
The chairman of Iran-Switzerland Joint Chamber of Commerce said that Iran’s main imports from Switzerland are medicine and grains.
Elaborating on the imports of grains from Switzerland, he said that the source of Iran’s grain imports may be Australia, Brazil, or another country while the signing of the contracts and receiving the money will take place in Switzerland.
Nezam-Mafi said that the world main grain companies are headquartered in Geneva and their contracts are made and signed in this Swiss city.
