The private sectors of Iran and Nigeria urged the need for lifting the obstacles on banking and transportation cooperation between the two countries.
Director of Arab-African Department of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Shahram Khassipour and Vice President of Nigeria Chamber of Commerce Sijuade Kayode, in a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, explored ways for cooperation between the private sectors of Iran and Nigeria.
Speaking during the meeting, the vice president of Nigeria Chamber of Commerce said that economic cooperation between Iran and Nigeria has to be focused on private sector activities.
He said that his country is eager to sign agreements with the Iranian private sector and dispatch trade delegations to Tehran in the near future.
Noting that Nigeria is the first economy of Africa and the biggest oil producer of the continent, Kayode said that the existence of fertile lands in Nigeria and production of fertilizers by the country provides a good potential for cooperation between the two countries.
He said that partnership in supplying refining equipment, and creating power plant equipment for Nigeria are among attractive areas for Iranian investors.
The Iranian side said for his part that enhancement of cooperation between the chambers of commerce of Iran and Nigeria are of prime importance.
Khassipour said that Iran Chamber of Commerce is ready for further cooperation with Nigeria on different economic, commercial, and investment areas.
There are huge potentials for cooperation on energy, petrochemical, technical and engineering cooperation, power plant construction and overseas farming between the two countries, he noted.
Spokesman of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran (CAO) Mir-Akbar Razavi said few days ago that Iran and Nigeria have signed a cooperation document of air transport.
The document was signed on the sidelines of an Iran-Nigeria Joint Commission meeting in the Iranian capital.
