Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari on Tuesday voiced Tehran’s readiness to boost cooperation with Turkmenistan in the oil and gas sector.
Safari made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Chief of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of ministers for Oil and Gas Shahym Abdrahamov.
He pointed to the successful experience of gas transit from Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan through the Iranian territory and said the Islamic Republic of Iran is also prepared to transit Turkmen gas to other neighbors as well.
Safari said that Iran is capable of exporting technical and engineering services as well as Iranian-made goods to Turkmenistan, adding that Tehran is also prepared to provide Turkmenistan with access to high seas through southern Iranian ports like Bandar Abbas and Chabahar.
He noted that holding trade exhibitions can pave the way for better introducing economic capabilities and trade opportunities of Iran and Turkmenistan.
In the meeting, the Turkmen official welcomed Safari’s proposals and stressed the need to use opportunities for cooperation and bilateral trade to the full.
