Tehran is hosting the 14th International Floor Covering, Moquette, Machine-Made Carpet and Related Industries Exhibition.
The event opened at Tehran International Fairground on Sept. 3 and will run through Sept. 6.
Mohammad Mehdi Baradaran, deputy industries minister; Alireza Peymanpak, the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran; and Mohsen Gorji, director general of Textiles and Clothing Industries Department of the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade were present during the inauguration, IRIB News reported.
More than 140 companies are participating in the event.
The public can visit the expo from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The number of companies active in Iran's machine-made carpet industry has increased to 1,200 units in recent years, which indicate the progress and development of this industry in Iran,” Baradaran said.
According to the official, $250 million worth of machine-made carpets were exported from Iran in the last Iranian year (March 2021-22), which are estimated to hit $300 million this year.
