A large delegation of representatives from Russian businesses and companies visited Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) on Monday.

The visit to Iran Chamber of Commerce took place on the first day of the Russian delegation’s three-day visit to Iran.

Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) had announced last month that, according to an agreement between TCCIMA and the Russian Export Center, a Russian trade delegation was set to travel to Iran to negotiate with private sector companies of the country.

The visit to Tehran by the Russian delegation also comes few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raeisi during a meeting in Uzbekistan that Russia will send its biggest ever trade and business delegation to Tehran amid efforts by the two countries to expand their economic ties and to beef up their defenses against foreign sanctions..

The delegation comprises of 100 people representing 65 Russian companies on different areas of activity.

Upon their arrival in in Iran Chamber of Commerce, the Russian businesspersons participated in a trade meeting where they introduced their products and services to the Iranian companies so as to find ways for cooperation.

The Russian companies were active in different areas, including food, chemical, plastic, health and cosmetic products and construction industry and providing investment and financial consultation services.

After the trade meeting, the Russian businesspersons went for B2B meetings with their Iranian counterparts.

An Iranian trade ministry spokesman has recently said that Russia plans to dispatch at least 10 other business delegations to Iran by the end of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2023).

Russia seeks closer economic and energy ties with Iran since February when it came under Western sanctions because of its involvement in the war in Ukraine.
