Spanish Commercial Attache to Tehran Inigo Gil Casares said that promotion of ties between his country and Iran highly relies on a resolution of banking problems.

Spanish Commercial Attache to Tehran Inigo Gil Casares said that promotion of ties between his country and Iran highly relies on a resolution of banking problems.

Speaking during a meeting in Tehran with Deputy for International Affairs of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Alireza Yavari, he said that financial and banking problems are one of the main obstacles hindering trade relations between Tehran and Madrid.

Expressing satisfaction with Iran’s nuclear talks with the world powers, Casares said that it is necessary for Iran and Spain to keep their contacts in the existing conditions.

The diplomat stressed that the Spanish companies are eager to develop further cooperation with their Iranian partners in different areas, such as renewable energies, rail transport, and food, adding that investment of Iranian companies in producing pistachio and saffron in Spain can benefit both countries.   

Casares called for the dispatch of delegations from Iran Chamber of Commerce to different exhibitions in Spain where Iranian businesspersons can have meetings with their Spanish counterparts.

The ICCIMA deputy for international affairs, said in the meantime that there are many potentials for trade relations between Iran and Spain.

Yavari said that areas which have been exempt from sanctions provide a good ground for further trade cooperation between the two countries.

He added that agriculture, medicine, food, and some construction materials such as ceramic and tile as well as tourism are among areas in which Iran and Spain can cooperate.
