President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture has highlighted the need for Iran and Belarus to solve transit problems and facilitate issuing banking guarantees as a prerequisite for promotion of trade between the two countries.
Gholam Hossein Shafei made the remarks during a meeting with Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov which was held on the sidelines of a visit to Tehran by a Belarusian trade delegation.
The volume of trade between Iran and Belarus is lagging behind the potentials, Shafei said, underlining the major role the chambers of commerce of both countries can play in upgrading bilateral trade.
He noted that increasing the level of bilateral trade largely rests upon the removal of transit obstacles between the two countries.
The Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said in the meantime that both Iran and Belarus are under Western sanctions. He said that his country intends to make use of Iran’s experiences in doing trade despite the sanctions.
Miatlikov welcomed a proposal for launching a direct flight between Iran and Belarus which he said could reduce trade costs of both countries.
He also proposed for holding trilateral talks between the chambers of commerce of Iran, Russia and Belarus.
