Head of Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Zarrabi says the volume of trade between Iran and Oman is expected to reach $2 billion by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20).
Speaking exclusively with Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom, Zarrabi said that this year’s trade volume between the two neighboring countries would be nearly 10 times bigger than that of 10 years ago when bilateral trade stood at $220 million.
He also said that Iran’s exports to Oman which used to stand at $146 million ten years ago is supposed to hit $1.2 billion by the yearend.
Zarrabi said that there is still more room for progress in bilateral relations.
He noted that Iran is expected to have a 3.8% of Oman’s total imports this year.
Elaborating on the measures taken by the joint chamber of commerce, he said that it has further facilitated membership, attracted investments from Oman, and have facilitated exports into the Persian Gulf Arab country.
Zarrabi said that Iran has also been promoting imports via Oman and re-exports of commodities via the country.
He noted that the joint chamber of commerce is focused on Oman’s 10th development plan to increase cooperation with the country in different tourism and educational areas and so on.
