Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) on Friday officially published the final list of candidates whose qualifications have been approved for the 10th edition of Iran local chambers of commerce elections.

The initial list of candidates was announced on February 18 when 1,229 of the total 2,119 candidates were qualified by the Supervisory Board of the Elections, a vetting body headquartered in Iran Chamber of Commerce.

Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi, the secretary of the Supervisory Board of the Elections, said that the board has dealt with 345 electoral appeals so that the number of those qualified for the March 11 elections increased to 1,323.

Sanjabi had earlier said that some 61.28% of the total candidates are legal persons with 37.76% of whom being natural persons.

Elections for the tenth parliament of the private sector will be held at all 34 local chambers of commerce across Iran on March 11 where all those with commercial cards and membership cards are eligible to vote.

Voters in local chambers across the country go to the ballet boxes to choose their representatives for a four-year term.

The elections at Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) are the most important of all as there are more candidates for this chamber with 40 seats up for grabs. There are 60 seats at the chamber, 20 of which are not elected as they are proposed by the government.

The candidates will compete for seats in four different commercial, industrial, agriculture, and mining sectors.
