Iran’s trade with ECO states hit $16.7 billion in ten months

Trade between Iran and the Economic Cooperation Organization’s member states reached 25.14 million tons worth $16.7 billion during the current Iranian year’s first 10 months (March 21, 2022-Jan. 20), official report says.

Latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration suggests a 1.53% and 27.38% rise in terms of weight and value compared with last year’s corresponding period, respectively.

Turkey was Iran’s main trade partner among the countries under review with 15.89 million tons (up 3.94%) worth $11.69 billion (up 33.52%). It was followed by Pakistan with 3.42 million tons (up 31.32%) worth $1.86 billion (up 52.47%) and Afghanistan with 2.78 million tons (down 22.71%) worth $1.35 billion (down 12.39%).

Iran’s exports to ECO members reached 21.08 million tons worth $10.58 billion during the 10 months ending Jan. 20, registering 0.22% and 25.69% year-on-year increase in terms of weight and value, respectively.

Turkey with 12.86 million tons (up 6.55%) worth $6.61 billion (up 45.95%), Afghanistan with 2.76 million tons (down 22.84%) worth $1.33 billion (down 13.4%) and Pakistan with 2.78 million tons (up 16.02%) worth $1.14 billion (up 12.4%) were the top export destinations.

Imports hit 4.05 million tons worth $6.11 billion during the period to register an 8.94% and a 30.41% growth in terms of weight and value, respectively.

Turkey was also the main exporter to Iran with 3.03 million tons (down 5.83%) worth $5.08 billion (up 57.91%). It was followed by Pakistan with 643,029 tons (up 199.21%) worth $713.69 million (up 252.02%) and Kazakhstan with 253,741 tons worth $113.56 million.

Trade between Iran and ECO surged by 43% to stand at 30.87 million tons worth $16.79 in the fiscal 2021-22. Iran’s exports stood at 26.42 million tons worth $10.85 billion while imports from ECO members hit 4.45 million tons worth $5.94 billion.
