President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei stressed the need for high turnout for the 10th edition of Local Chamber of Commerce Elections which began across Iran on Saturday morning.
Shafei, who made the remarks in a video address to a ceremony which officially launched the elections, noted that such a participation will further strengthen the status of private sector in the country’s economy.
He said that the high turnout of businesspeople in this elections will be reflective of the significance of the chamber of commerce.
The Iran Chamber of Commerce president expressed hope that the voters will elect capable, influential people who are concerned about the difficulties facing the private sector so they can organize “the turbulent future of the country's economy” along with other civil institutions and the three branches of government.
Referring to the 140-year history of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Shafei said that this “invaluable heritage” has to be preserved as the oldest civil institution of the country.
He also expressed hope that the rate of participation in this elections will grow in comparison to the previous edition.
