In a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, private sector actors from Iran and Vietnam underlined the need for removing the obstacles on the way of bilateral cooperation so as to enhance cooperation on agriculture and constructional materials.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) in Tehran as a Vietnamese private sector delegation is in the Iranian capital to attend Iran Expo 2023.
Shahram Khasipour, the director of Arab-African Affairs of ICCIMA International Department who chaired the meeting, referred to Iran’s progress in different industries, techno-engineering and nanotechnology which he said are potentials for more enhancement of trade with Vietnam.
Putting the volume of trade between Iran and Vietnam between 140 and 150 million dollars, Khasipour said that the figure is not compatible with the existing potentials.
He believed that the annual trade between the two countries can be increased to $2 billion which requires both governments to prepare the requirements, including the financial and monetary mechanisms, establishment of regular shipping lines and direct flights.
Khasipour voiced readiness of Iran Chamber of Commerce to exchange trade delegations with Vietnam.
Also speaking in the meeting, Head of the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tehran Nguyen Thanh Long expressed satisfaction with the level of trade between Iran and Vietnam despite the global COVID pandemic.
He said that his country looks at Iran Chamber of Commerce as a bridge connecting the businesspeople on both sides.
