President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei has urged the need for further cooperation between Iran and Oman on health tourism.
Shafei was addressing an Iran-Oman Business Forum at the ICCIMA headquarters in Tehran on Monday.
Noting that the annual volume of trade between Iran and Oman registered a 41% year-on-year rise last year, he said that growing trade exchanges between the two countries indicates that reaching a target of $3 billion in bilateral trade is not far-fetched.
He cited official figures which showed that Iran’s exports to Oman had grown by 51% over the Iranian calendar year to March 20 in comparison to figures from the year before.
Shafei also said that Iran’s imports from Oman had also registered a 29% year-on-year rise in the last calendar year.
He noted that Iranian companies can provide Oman with different services at the areas of energy, agriculture and construction of wind and hydro power plants.
Also speaking during the forum, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Faisal bin Abdullah said that the Omani private sector attaches special significance to enhancement of trade with Iran.
He said that increasing trade ties with Iran is among the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Bin Abdullah added that the Omani private sector is fully prepared to cooperate with Iran in joint projects.
