Trade exchanges between Iran and the European Union member states reached €1.49 billion in the first four months of 2023, according to a recent update by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat).
The Eurostat figures cited in a Wednesday report by Iran’s state IRNA news agency said that Iran’s four-month trade with the 27-member bloc has registered an 11% decline in comparison to €1.673 billion reported in the same period of 2022.
The European Union’s exports to Iran was reported at €1.208 billion in the January-April period posting an 8% year-on-year decline.
The bloc’s exports to Iran stood at €1.312 billion the January-April period of 2022.
The report also put Iran’s exports to the European Union at €282 million, down 22% from €361 million of exports reported in last year’s corresponding period.
Germany was Iran’s top trade partner among EU member countries in the mentioned period, accounting for 31% of the bloc’s total trade with the country.
