President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi and Serbia’s Ambassador to Iran Dragan Todorovic, in a meeting in Tehran on Friday, highlighted the need for exchange of trade delegations between the two countries.
Speaking during the meeting, the president of Iran Chamber of Commerce referred to Serbia as an emerging economy, noting that with the help of the Serbian embassy in Tehran, good steps can be taken to give a boost to bilateral trade.
Selahvarzi also recalled a last year visit to Serbia by an Iranian trade delegation where a payment mechanism was agreed by both sides which he said requires more focus and attention from both countries.
He voiced the readiness of Iran Chamber of Commerce to host a trade delegation from Serbia.
In the meantime, the Serbian ambassador congratulated Selahvarzi on being elected as new president of Iran Chamber of Commerce in a June 18 election.
He welcomed Selahvarzi’s proposal for a visit to Tehran by a Serbian trade delegation and said that the joint economic commission of Iran and Serbia is due to convene in Tehran in October or November during which he said a Serbian delegation can also be dispatched to the Iranian capital.
Todorovic said that his country’s parliament speaker is also due in Tehran within the next 10 days and the visit will be followed by another visit to Iran by Serbian deputy foreign minister two weeks later.
The ambassador said that agriculture is the best ground for trade between Iran and Serbia where both countries have good potentials for cooperation.
