Iran capable of transmitting 1 bcm/d of gas to different areas: Official

Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) is capable of transmitting as much as 1 billion cubic meters per day (bcm/d) of gas to different parts of the country, IGTC managing director announced.

Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) is capable of transmitting as much as 1 billion cubic meters per day (bcm/d) of gas to different parts of the country, IGTC managing director announced.

Gholamabbas Hosseini also said that a total of 274 bcm of gas is transmitted in Iran annually.

With 38,000 kilometers of gas pipelines, 333 turbo compressors, 91 pressure boosting stations, and 61 operation and repair centers, IGTC boosts pressure and then transmits gas for industrial, house and petrochemical consumption, the official said.   

Some 98 bcm of gas has been transmitted to consumer sources from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21) to August 1 which is up 4 bcm compared to last year’s corresponding period, he added.

Hosseini also said that a daily 8-9 mcm of gas are injected to oil wells during the summer.
