Iranian ambassador proposes launch of trade center in Indonesia

Iran’s newly-appointed ambassador to Indonesia has proposed mulling the possibility of launching a trade center and a permanent exhibition of Iranian products in Indonesia.

Iran’s newly-appointed ambassador to Indonesia has proposed mulling the possibility of launching a trade center and a permanent exhibition of Iranian products in Indonesia.

Mohammad Boroujerdi made the remarks during a visit to Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) where he met with the ICCIMA president and other board members.

Noting that Indonesia is the economic hub of East Asia, the ambassador said that with a 300-million-population market which is also connected to ASEAN’s 900-million-population market, Indonesia can serve as a gateway for linking Iran to this region.  

Referring to setting a $20 billion target for future trade with Indonesia, boroujerdi said that in order to reach this goal, more increased cooperation with Iran private sector is needed.

The President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said in the meantime that expansion of trade and economic relations is among top agendas of the Chamber of Commerce.

Hossein Selahvarzi noted that we have to accept the restrictions caused by the sanctions and set out strategic plans for trade with Indonesia in cooperation with Iranian embassy in the country.     

He also said that Iran Chamber of Commerce has plans to dispatch a trade delegation to Indonesia.

Selahvarzi welcomed the proposal by the ambassador for launching a permanent exhibition of Iranian products in Indonesia which he said would facilitate bilateral trade.
