Road transit from Iranian territory increased 18 percent in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 22) compared to the same period last year.
Over 5 million tons of goods were transited via Iranian soil by nearly 270,000 domestic and foreign transport fleets from March 21 to September 22, 2023, the director general of the International Transport and Transit Office of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization stated.
More than 51,000 domestic and foreign transport fleets transited 1.140 million tons of goods from the Iranian soil in the Iranian month of Shahrivar in the current year (August 22 to September 22), registering a 50 percent hike compared to the last year’s corresponding period, Javad Hedayati said.
Thanks to the policy of regional political and economic convergence especially with the neighboring states and given the effective measures taken by all responsible organizations to ease the transit of goods from the Iranian territory, it is predicted that the trend of transit from the country will grow in the coming months, he emphasized.
