IRU signs transit cooperation agreement with Iran government, private sector

A trilateral agreement on transit cooperation has been signed between the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The International Road Transport Union (IRU), Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) sign a trilateral agreement on transit cooperation in Tehran, Iran, December 18, 2023.

A trilateral agreement on transit cooperation has been signed between the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The document was signed in Tehran on Monday by IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto, ICCIMA Vice-President Mohammadreza Bahraman and IRICA Chief Mohammad Rezvanifar.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Rezvanifar expressed satisfaction with this agreement and another agreement signed between the IRU, IRICA and the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

He said that these two agreements indicate the high determination of all the parties to promote relations to the highest level.

Rezvanifar said that in order to take the necessary steps for executing electronic TIR procedures in Iran, the Iranian customs administration has made the technical preparation for joining UNECE transport regulations.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness to hold training courses for neighboring countries, Iraq and Afghanistan in particular, on the implementation of the TIR Convention.
