The commissioner of the pharmaceutical plants’ project of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture said 150 tons of saffron were exported from the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).

It is predicted that 250 tons of saffron will have been produced in the country by the yearend (March 20, 2024), Hossein Zeinali stated.

He put the under-cultivation land area for the saffron product in the current year at 123,000 ha.

Zeinali went on to say that incentive packages have been prepared for saffron growers in line with helping them provide the required agricultural raw materials.
